I fell into your darkness because
I could not find my light.
I guess, I was your forbidden
-	you were my right.
I wished so much to catch you
and help you to be free
but what a painstaking irony,
what – after all – is freedom? without a family…
I projected onto you
what I had thought to be me
but what turned out to be expectations from society.

We fell in love as people
but soon became advocates
for our own beliefs
and the aftermath
of cultural perception.

Your rituals of love were demeaning
and my ideas of liberty were imprisoning.
I wished we could both have learned
to see each other
but the war you lived became your own
and I became the conflict.
For without these white Americans
your loved ones wouldn’t have lost.
For without my persuasion
you would not be a sinner to your own heart.
Diplomacy fails the overwhelming waves of emotions that were tied
to your trauma of death
and my fear of life.
I thought your restrictions would make me feel safe
but they ended up forcing both of us into loneliness.
We only sleep with our eyes open
and when I wake up
you are gone.
